Apple Greensleeves
A good modern early dessert apple bred in Kent from James Grieve and Golden Delicious, it more closely resembles the latter. Pale green apples turn yellow as they ripen; the flesh is crisp and juicy, both sweet and tangy, with a pleasant but not outstanding flavour. Best eaten fresh, as the flavour diminishes in store; use any excess for juicing. The tree is ideal for gardens, being hardy, reliable, non-vigorous and easy to manage. Heavy cropper, coming into bearing early, and is a good choice where conditions are poor. Partially self-fertile, and a good pollinator; spur-bearer. Apple Greensleeves has attractive blossom and good disease resistance. Holds RHS Award of Garden Merit.
